Rita Zawaideh is a highly successful tour operator, consultant and public speaker who knows the Middle East. She is a global citizen, who was raised in the U.S. and has lived abroad in Europe and the Arab World. An American, she also considers the Middle East her home. Through Caravan-Serai, Rita unveils the Middle East—uncovering the region from preconceived notions and sharing its cultural riches and people. Her greatest reward is ensuring that clients are comfortable as they come to understand the region. For her service to the community, Rita has been awarded the Seattle Chapter’s United Nations Peace Award, Pillar of Peace Award by the American Service Friends Committee, the Civil Libertarian Award by the American Civil Liberties Union, and the TravelAge West Trendsetters award.
