Effective 1-Jul-2008, a departure tax will be collected from departing passengers of all nationalities (groups or individuals) by Syrian authorities:

From Airports: USD 35 Per Person (to be paid in Syrian Lira = 1500 SYP)
From Borders: USD 12 Per Person (to be paid in Syrian Lira = 500 SYP)
