Egypt is welcoming visitors with open arms! Now is a great time to go, see the wonders of the world with a lot less crowds, and explore the ancient cities and monuments, wander the streets and bazaar of Cairo, and enjoy all the Egypt has to offer.
Day 1/Mar 4: Cairo
Welcome to Egypt! Upon your arrival at Cairo International Airport, you will be met and assisted, and transferred to the hotel in downtown Cairo for overnight.
Day 2/Mar 5: Cairo
After breakfast, enjoy a full day of sightseeing of Egypt’s most iconic sights. Visit Sakkara where the Step Pyramid of Djoser is located. The Step Pyramid is the precursor to the pyramids at Giza and show the development of the construction process. Next visit the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza with lunch. There will be time for an optional camel or horse ride around the pyramids. Overnight at our Cairo hotel. (B/L)
Day 3/Mar 6: Cairo
After breakfast we will have a full day tour of Cairo including a visit to the Egyptian Museum, Saladin Citadel where you will see the Alabaster Mosque and enjoy views of Cairo and the Nile River below. Next we have lunch at a local restaurant then visit the Khan el Khalili bazaar. We will try and shop for Galabeyas for the ladies for the fun evening on the river cruise. Overnight at our Cairo hotel. (B/L)
Day 4/Mar 7: Nile Cruise
After breakfast check out and transfer from the hotel to the domestic airport to catch our flight to Aswan. On arrival in Aswan we will transfer by air conditioned mini bus from Aswan airport to the Nile cruise ship M/S Amwaj. 11:00am embarkation and lunch on board. After lunch sail on the Nile by felucca around Kitchener’s Island and the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Return to the cruise ship for afternoon tea, and in the evening enjoy a Nubian Folkloric Show and dinner on board. Overnight in Aswan. (B/L/D)
Day 5/Mar 8: Nile Cruise
After breakfast on board, start your day with a visit to the High Dam, followed by a visit the Temple of Philae dedicated to the Goddess Isis, then return to the ship and sail to Kom Ombo. Relax and enjoy lunch on board as we sail along the Nile. On arrival in Kom Ombo we will visit the Temple of Kom Ombo shared by the two gods Sobek and Haeroris. Afterwards, return to the ship and sail on to Edfu while enjoying afternoon tea. Dinner on board and overnight. (B/L/D)
Day 6/Mar 9: Nile Cruise
After breakfast on board, visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. This is a much larger temple complex than Kom Ombo, and very well preserved. Inscriptions on its walls provide important information on language, myth and religion during the Greco-Roman period in ancient Egypt. Return to the ship and we sail to Luxor. Enjoy lunch on board and later, afternoon tea while you relax and watch the banks of the Nile glide by. After dinner on board enjoy a Galabeya Party (traditional long women’s dress). Overnight on board in Luxor. (B/L/D)
Day 7/Mar 10: Nile Cruise
After breakfast on board we will visit West Bank where the Valleys of the Kings and Queens are located. Here we will see a few of the tombs to the major kings and queens of ancient Egypt as well as learn about tomb construction and the importance of the treasures found inside. Next we visit Hatshepsut’s temple, dedicated to the sun god Amon-Ra. Return to the ship for lunch, then we visit the East Bank and the spectacular Karnak Temple and the smaller but still beautiful Luxor Temple. Return to the ship for afternoon tea and dinner on board, and enjoy music in the lounge. Overnight on board in Luxor. (B/L/D)
Day 8/Mar 11: Cairo
After breakfast, disembarkation, then transfer to the Luxor airport to catch our flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival in Cairo, transfer from the airport to Le Passage Hotel for overnight. (B)
Day 9/Mar 12: Final departure
Transfer from Le Passage Airport Hotel to Cairo International Airport for your flight home.
