15 Day Itinerary

Thursday, Day 1 - Depart U.S. - Depart New York this evening on a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to Riyadh.

Friday, Day 2 - Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - Arrive in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, in the evening and transfer to the Riyadh Marriott Hotel, where we spend two nights.

Saturday, Day 3 - Riyadh Full day city tour. Visiting the souqs, Masmak Fortress, and the citadel in Old Riyadh. Afternoon visit to the site of Dir'aiyah. Dinner at a local restaurant for a typical Saudi meal. Overnight in Riyadh.

Sunday, Day 4 -Riyadh to Dhahran Morning tour to the National Museum with a visit to the Abd al-Aziz Foundation and the Murabba Palace. After lunch fly to Dhahran. You will spend two nights in this seaside town at the Gulf Meridien Hotel. A lecture will precede dinner.

Monday, Day 5 - Hofuf Full day tour of the town of Hofuf in the large oasis of Al-Hasa with a visit to the Qasr Ibrahim Fort. Return to Dhahran late in the afternoon. Overnight at the Gulf Meridien Hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant in Al-Khobar.

Tuesday, Day 6 - Dhahran and Nejran Morning visit to the headquarters of Saudi Aramco including a visit to Well #7. Afternoon flight to the desert trading city of Nejran. Two nights at the Holiday Inn Nejran.

Wednesday, Day 7 - Nejran Full day tour of Nejran, a major stop on the frankincense route and to Nejran Fort with its vibrant souqs. Visit the Nejran Museum and Al-Aan Palace. Afternoon drive in 4 X 4 vehicles into the desert of the fabled Empty Quarter. Traditional Saudi dinner in a Bedouin camp. Overnight at the Holiday Inn Nejran.

Thursday, Day 8 - Nejran to Abha Morning drive to the mountainous region of Asir. Visit Asir National Park Visitors Center. Two nights in Abha at the Abha Palace Hotel.

Friday, Day 9 - Abha Full day tour with visits to a typical market, Asir National Park with a cable ride to Habalah. Afternoon drive to Al-Sooda, visiting the village of Rijal Alma. Dinner at the Abha Palace. Overnight in Abha.

Saturday, Day 10 - Abha to Riyadh and Medina Depart this morning on a flight to Riyadh, with a connecting flight to Medina. Between flights visit a large camel market outside Riyadh. Fly from Riyadh to Medina. Overnight at the Medina Sheraton with dinner. A lecture will precede dinner.

Sunday, Day 11 - Al-Ula and Madain Salah Full day tour beginning with drive through the desert past deserted stations of Hejaz Railway visiting a restored Turkish fort. After lunch visit a museum at Al-Ula, then proceed to Madain Salah. Overnight at the Madain Salah Hotel at Al-Ula.

Monday, Day 12 - Al-Ula to Median and Jeddah Return drive from Al-Ula to the airport at Medina with box lunches. Afternoon flight from Medina to Jeddah. Two nights at the Jeddah Hilton or the Inter-Continental.

Tuesday, Day 13 - Jeddah Morning walking tour of Jeddah. After lunch visit the Hajj Terminal.

Wednesday, Day 14 - Jeddah Full day tour with a drive along the Corniche, visit the Museum of Abdel Raouf Hasan Khalil. Afternoon is free. Farewell dinner at the Green Island Restaurant. Evening transfer to the airport for a late night flight to New York.

Thursday, Day 15 - Return to U.S. Depart Jeddah after midnight, and arrive in New York early the same morning, with onward connections available if needed.
