Diving Into The Red Sea In Yemen

DAY 1 - Arrive at the airport, transfer to the hotel in Sana'a, the capitol of Yemen. Perched high in the mountains, this picturesque city lends itself to exploration. The architecture is distinct, many houses are several stories high. Morning at leisure. After lunch, enjoy a city tour. Overnight in Sana'a.

DAY 2 - In the morning, visit the archaeological and handcraft exhibits at the National Museum. Head west, descending the mountains to Hodeidah, a fishing city on the Red Sea. Journey to Zabid, an old Islamic cultural center with its 5th century AH mosque and university for a tour of this area. Continue to Al Khawkha, noted for its beautiful beaches fringed with palm trees, and coral reef diving.

DAY 3 & 4 - Explore this quaint fishing village for great pictures, walk the beaches and watch the palms undulate in the breeze, or jump into your snorkeling gear to examine the reef life of the famous Red Sea.

DAY 5 - Early morning departure for Manakha to shop in the suq and visit with the local people. Continue the drive to Sana'a, arriving early in the afternoon. You are at leisure for the rest of the day. Overnight in Sana'a.

DAY 6 - Our excursion takes us to the environs of Sana'a. Tour nearby Thula with its four gates and great mosque and see its lofty fortress. Stroll down the hill to Shibam visiting interesting archaeological sites and an ancient mosque from 6AH. Enjoy Kawkaban, sitting on top of a mountain, with a magnificent view of the countryside. Wander the quaint streets of Hababah. Return to Sana'a for overnight.

DAY 7 - Enjoy last minute shopping or exploring this fascinating city. Late departure to the airport for you onward journey.
