Baked quinces are a great fall dessert. Quinces are like a combination between an apple and a pear, with a little bit more tartness. They are not that popular in the US, but are used a lot in the Middle East and Europe.
-
4 quinces
-
1 stick unsalted butter
-
1 cups sugar
-
3 cups warm water
Preparation:
Peel, core and cut quinces in half. Place in 9×12 baking dish, flesh side up.
Cover each quince half generously with butter and sprinkle with sugar.
Gently pour the water into the baking dish.
Bake in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour, until quinces are a golden color and soft.
Allow to sit 15 minutes prior to serving. This can be served as a beautiful side dish along with a lamb or chicken.
Enjoy!
