Weds Day 1

Dubai – Khasab

After breakfast check out of your Dubai hotel and be picked up by our Omani bus transfer to Khasab on the Musandam Peninsula of Oman. After clearing the border we will drive to Khasab and check in to the hotel. In the afternoon we will show you the capital of Musandam, Khasab a fishing town and oasis, with a population of approximately 18,000. Khasab is located at the Strait of Hormuz and overlooking the Gulf of Arabia. Visit the restored Fort of Khasab; built by the Portuguese in the 16th century. Today the fort has a museum where some Omani handicraft items are displayed. Drive through thee town of Khasab with its old and new souq. At the end of our tour you will visit Wadi Qadah with thee old village Tawi. At the end of the deep b bay you can see prehistoric rock carvings depicting camels, ships and warriors, said to be more than 2000 years old. Overnight at the Atana Khasab Hotel.

Thurs Day 2

Khasab – Full day dhow cruise

After breakfast, we embark on a full day cruise in a traditional Omani Dhow (boat). The cruise will take us toward Musandam’s longest and most spectacular fjord, which is often referred to as the ‘Norway of Arabia’. It’s calm, turquoise waters contrast with the creamy white limestone cliffs. Along the way you will pass small fishing villages and perhaps even encounter dolphins. The dhow will anchor in the vicinity off Telegraph Island, allowing you to take a swim or just sit back and enjoy soft drinks, tea or coffee while admiring breathtaking views of mountains rising in the distance to over 2,000 feet. Then leaving the anchorage, continue our tour with lunch provided on board and another stop f for swimming and snorkeling. After the tour we have a leisurely cruise back to Khasab. Overnight at the Atana Khasab Hotel.(B/L)

Fri Day 3

Musandam – Muscat

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and we transfer you to Khasab International airport for your departure flight to Muscat. We will be met and assisted at the Muscat International Airport and transfer to our hotel, the Al Falaj Hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or at your own activities. (B)

Sat Day 4

Muscat City Tour

After breakfast, at 9:00 AM we will take you to Azaiba, where you will find the Grand Mosque, standing in stately grandeur. A visit to this beautiful piece of architecture is a must to all tourists. (Open to visitors every day from 0900 to 1100 hrs except on Fridays – Dress code: Ladies should wear attires that cover their arms and legs and wear a scarf to cover their heads. Gentlemen should wear normal shirts and trousers) From here we will take you into the heart of a world that has not changed in generations. There is the bustling fish and vegetable souq where you can see the latest catch of fish and fresh vegetables & fruits from the farms. Capture the spirit of a bygone era. We will see the old city of Muscat and catch a glimpse of the old town through the eyes of bygone travelers who left their marks and images, collected and on display at the fine galleries and museums (Bait Al Zubair) in the heart of the Old Quarter. We take a photo stop at the Sultan’s Palace flanked by the 16th Century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani. Return to the hotel in the afternoon (around 13:30 hrs) and relax. The rest of the day is free. Overnight at the Al Falaj Hotel.

Sun Day 5

Muscat – Nakhl – Wadi Bani Awf – Jabal Shams

9:00 AM: You will meet your tour guide and escort you to the 4 wheel drive for your journey along the Batinah coast. Batinah is the most fertile region of Oman. Your first stop will be in Nakhl to see a 17th century fortress that is spectacularly perched on a rocky prominence in the foothills of the Western Hajars and the village. Nakhl is also famous for its mineral-laden hot springs. Picnic lunch. You make your way through Wadi Bani Awf to Bilad Sayt one of the most beautiful remote villages. The path through the narrow gorge is a connection between two little settlements. It is a spectacular drive through the mountains to Al Hamra. From here, you precede to Jabal Shams mountains and check in at Jabel Shams Resort. Dinner and overnight at Jabel Shams Resort or Sunrise Resort. (B/L/D)

Mon Day 6

Jabal Shams – Nizwa – Sayq Plateau – Nizwa

After breakfast, you will leave the hotel at 9:00 AM and proceed to Misfat Al Abrein, a picturesque village strapped on to the side of a mountain. As you walk around this beautiful village where time has come to a standstill, you will be moved by the simplicity and friendliness of the people. You will then drive towards Jebel Akhdar via Birkat al Mawz. Lunch is at your own expense. Jebel Akhdar in Arabic means “Green Mountains” and this region of the most verdant outside of Salalah and the Batinah Coast. One of the most scenic areas in Oman, coupled with the friendly local inhabitants, this region is a natural spot for tourism. Points of interest include the towns of Wadi Bani Habib, Saiq and Al Ayn, where local farmers raise grapes, pomegranates, apricots and walnuts. The climate is moderate year round as the mean altitude is about 1800 meters. Also of interest is the lookout over the canyon recently named Diana’s Point, for the late Princess of Wales who spent time here in the late 1980’s. Return to Nizwa. Overnight in Falaj Daris Hotel (B)

Tues Day 7

Jabal Shams – Nizwa – Wahiba Sands

After breakfast you leave the hotel at 8:30am and continue the tour towards old capital of Oman, Nizwa and visit the souq showcasing a wonderful array of handicrafts – coffee pots, swords, leather goods, silverware, antiques, and household utensils. Then visit Nizwa fort, which completed in the 1650’s, was the seat of power during the rule of the Al Ya’ruba dynasty and is Oman’s most visited National monument. Lunch is at your own expense. Later you drive to undulating golden sands. The great Wahiba sands are longitudinal dunes 200 km long and 100 km wide running south from the Eastern Hajars to the Arabian Sea. This is the traditional home of the Bedouin, hardy spirited people who know how to survive in these harsh desert conditions. You are invited to meet with a Bedouin family and gain an intimate insight into their traditional lifestyle. Dinner and overnight at Safari Desert camp (B/D)

Weds Day 8

Wahiba – Wadi Bani Khalid – Ras Al Had

Breakfast at the camp. At 9:00 AM continue your tour towards Wadi Bani Khalid. Reach the magnificent Wadi. The pools are cool, deep and absolutely stunning and the silky water perfect for a long swim. After spending some time here, continue to Sur and visit the dhow yards, and you might see the dhows still being made by hand. Lunch is at your own cost. Continue the journey to Ras Al Jinz and check in at the hotel. After dinner around 9:00pm leave for the famous turtle beach to watch turtles laying their eggs and nesting. Dinner and overnight at Turtle Beach Resort – King Fish room (B/D)

Thurs Day 9

Sur – Wadi Shab – Fins – Bimah – Muscat

After breakfast depart the hotel at 9:00 AM and proceed along the coastal road. You will make stop in Wadi Shab. Take a hike up one of Oman’s scenic wadis. At the end of Wadi Shab there is a swim through the famous keyhole into the secluded swimming hole. After spending some time there, you continue to Fins Beach where you have an optional picnic lunch on the white sandy beach. After lunch you will visit the Bimah sinkhole, a geological formation of the karst topography and a scenic wonder, before you pass through some spectacular mountain scenery up the coast as you make our way back to Muscat and drop off in your hotel in Muscat. Overnight at Al Falaj Hotel (B/L)

Fri Day 10

Departure

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and transfer to Muscat International airport for your departure flight. (B)
