Deluxe 9 Day Nile Cruise and Egypt Tour

Welcome to Egypt, Land of the Pharaohs. On arrival in Cairo you will be met and assisted by our airport representative. Board your AC van and drive to your hotel in Cairo (5 star, Kempinski Nile or Cairo Sheraton or similar, Nile view rooms). Check in and overnight in Cairo.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel then meet your guide and depart for your visit to the Giza Pyramids and the Giant Sphinx. Stop for lunch in a local restaurant then continue on to visit the new Grand Egyptian Museum (if opened, or the new Museum of Egyptian Civilization). Afterwards return to your hotel. Dinner is on your own, and you can ask your guide or the hotel concierge for recommendations for local restaurants or have dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Cairo. (B/L)

Early breakfast at the hotel and check out before heading to the airport for your flight to Aswan. On arrival in Aswan visit the temple of the Goddess Isis on Philae Island, located above the dam. After the visit check into your hotel, the Movenpick on Elephantine Island. The afternoon is free to have lunch and to explore on your own. Dinner will be at a local restaurant. Overnight in Aswan. After breakfast at the hotel we will enjoy a morning sailing around the Nubian islands in a Felucca. Return to the hotel and check out and transfer to your 5-star deluxe Nile Cruise ship, the MS Farah. Check in and enjoy lunch on board. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore or just relax on board the ship. Dinner and overnight on board in Aswan. (B/L/D)

Enjoy breakfast on board as the ship makes its way north to Kom Ombo. The temple was dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek, god of fertility and creator of the world with Hathor and Khonsu. It was also dedicated to the falcon god Haroeris, or Horus the Elder. After visiting this unique temple, head back to the ship and sail on to Edfu, passing through the Esna locks. On the way, enjoy lunch on the ship. In Edfu, we will visit the magnificent temple dedicated to the god Horus, the falcon god of protection. Return to the ship and enjoy some relaxing time on the deck as the banks of the Nile glide by as you sail on to Luxor. Dinner on board. Overnight in Luxor. (B/L/D)

After breakfast head to the west side of the Nile to visit the Valley of the Kings where numerous tombs have been discovered carved out of the surrounding hills. You will be able to enter three of the tombs to see the different chambers and amazing hieroglyphs and artwork on the walls telling the stories of their former inhabitants. After visiting the tombs, we will visit the funerary temple of Pharaoh Hatsepshut. She, (yes, she) was one the very few women confirmed as a Pharaoh in ancient Egypt, and she was quite successful in her rule. Next visit the twin statues called the Colossi of Memnon, two giant  statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which stand at the front of the ruined Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III, the largest temple in the Theban Necropolis. Return to the ship for lunch and free time until just before sunset when we will go visit the temple of Luxor under the stars. Return to the ship for dinner and overnight on board in Luxor. (B/L/D)

Breakfast on board the ship then check out before going to visit the Temple of Karnak, the biggest religious complex in the world. Not only is it a huge site, it has been used by the ancient Egyptians, Romans, Christians, and Muslims and you will see evidence of all as you visit the site. Afterwards, check in to your hotel, the Sonesta St. George (Nile view rooms). The rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight in Luxor. (B)

Check out after breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. Arrival in Cairo and check in at your hotel, Le Meridien Airport Hotel, and the rest of the day is free. Overnight in Cairo. (B)
