Egypt Tour January 2023

Welcome to Egypt! On arrival at Cairo International Airport you will be met and assisted inside the airport by our representative and transfer to your hotel (Kempinski Cairo Nile or similar, Nile view rooms). Check in and overnight in Cairo.

After breakfast at the hotel we begin our tour with a visit to the new Grand Egyptian Museum, scheduled to open in November 2022. If it is not open yet we will visit the new Museum of Egyptian Civilization. Both are new and expansive facilities, with the Grand Egyptian Museum located on the Giza Plateau near the Pyramids and boasting the largest area of archeological displays in the world. The Museum of Egyptian Civilization is a new state of the art facility that showcases Egyptian civilization and provides educational, cultural, and research activities for Egyptians and international visitors and scholars. After our museum visit we will have lunch at a local restaurant then visit the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Return to our hotel and overnight in Cairo. (B/L)

We will have an early breakfast then check out and transfer to the Cairo airport to catch your flight to Aswan. On arrival in Aswan we will visit the temple of the Goddess Isis on Philae island. Afterwards we will drive to the Movenpick Aswan Hotel located on Elephantine Island. Check in and enjoy free time this afternoon. Dinner will be in a local restaurant, then we walk back to the hotel for overnight in Aswan. (B/D)

Breakfast at the hotel then we will enjoy a felucca ride on the Nile to visit the Botanical Gardens of Aswan on Kitchener Island, then visit the Nubian village by a motorboat. Lunch will be in a local restaurant then back to the hotel. Rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight in Aswan. (B/L)

This morning we will get an early start. Breakfast then check out and leave our luggage behind for our Aswan representative to look after and move it to our Nile cruise ship. We depart for Abu Simbel to visit the two magnificent temples of King Ramses II and Queen Nefertari in Abu Simbel. We will be back in Aswan around 1.30 PM, check in to our 5-star ship, Amwaj or similar, and enjoy lunch. The rest of the day is free at your leisure. Dinner on board and overnight in Aswan. (B/L/D)

This morning we sail out of Aswan. Enjoy breakfast on board and the our first visit of the day is the temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to god Sobek the crocodile God. Return to the ship for lunch as we continue sailing north. After lunch we visit the temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus the falcon God of protection. Return to the ship to relax and enjoy watching the scenery as the banks of the Nile glide by. Dinner on board as we arrive in Luxor for overnight. (B/L/D)

Breakfast on board the ship then we visit the Valley of the Kings where we will be able to enter 3 of the tombs to see the hieroglyph-covered walls and chambers where they were laid to rest. Next we will visit the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, who actually took the title of pharaoh and is one of Egypt’s most famous and powerful female rulers. We finish our tour of the West Bank of the Nile at the Colossi of Memnon, the remains of two giant statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, which stand at the front of the ruins of the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III. We will head back to the ship for lunch on board. Free afternoon, dinner and overnight on board in Luxor. (B/L/D)

We will have our last breakfast on board the ship, then check out and go to visit the Temple of Karnak, actually a complex of temples built over 2,000 years and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. Afterwards we check in to the Sonesta St. George Hotel (Deluxe full front Nile view room). The rest of the day is free at your leisure. Overnight in Luxor. (B)
*Sound & Light Show in the Karnak temple under the stars is optional (price is around $ 40 per person)

*Optional Balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings to get an amazing bird’s eye view of the historical sites around Luxor. (price TBA). Breakfast at the hotel and free time in the morning then we will visit the temple of Luxor. In what was then Thebes, Luxor Temple was “the place of the First Occasion,” where the god Amon experienced rebirth during the pharaoh’s annually reenacted coronation ceremony. We will have an opportunity to visit the local Luxor market, then return to the hotel. Overnight in Luxor. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel and then check out. Transfer to the Luxor airport to fly to Cairo. Arrive in Cairo and walk to Le Meridian hotel inside the airport, check in and overnight in Cairo. (B)

Breakfast at the hotel, check out and walk to the terminal to catch your flight back home. (B)
