We will visit the Faisaliah Tower, the historic Musmak Fort and Heritage Souq, and the National and King Abdulaziz Museums. Dinner at local Bistro Chino Restaurant. Return to the hotel for overnight. (B/L/D)
Riyadh - Najran
Early 6:30AM wake-up call then have breakfast at the hotel before check out. At 8:00AM we will continue sightseeing in Riyadh, then have lunch at Al Najdia Village Restaurant. We will transfer to the airport for an afternoon flight to Najran. On arrival in Najran we will transfer to our hotel for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
After breakfast we will begin our sightseeing in Najran. Najran is close to the border with Yemen and you will see influences of Yemeni culture and cuisine here. We will visit Al Ukhdood Museum and Al Ukhdood Site, significant for what has been called “the Massacre of Trench” that was a brutal battle between Christian and Jewish factions in the area. We will also visit Raoum Castle, the local souq and Emarat Historical Palace with lunch at the hotel. After lunch we will visit the Hema archeological sites to see the ancient rock carvings – one of the earliest written inscriptions on rock known to archeologists. Afterwards we will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Najran – Abha
After breakfast, we will depart at 8:00AM to Abha. We will have photo stops along the way at Dhahran Al Janoub, Al Hajara’s old city, and enjoy the view of Farshah from the Tehama mountains. On arrival in Abha we will check into the Abha Palace hotel, refresh and then have lunch. After lunch we will go visit the mountainside village of Al Habala. Al Habala village, 2000 meters above sea level, is no longer inhabited but is a destination for visitors. The terraced village is sometimes called the hanging village because it virtually hangs on the side of the steep mountain. The inhabitants used ropes to climb from one place to another. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Abha - Jeddah – Hail
Breakfast then depart at 7:30AM to begin our sightseeing. This morning we will enjoy the natural beauty of this region with a visit to one of many parks in the area, Al Soodah Park. The area is mountainous, and the climate really varies from top to bottom. We will see terraced mountainsides, and green vegetation like nowhere else in Saudi Arabia, and Hamadryas baboons. We will also take a cable car ride to see the picturesque mountain village of Rijal Al Maa and to explore Sarawat Mountain. Return to our hotel for lunch and check out and transfer to the airport for our flight to Hail. On arrival we will transfer to our hotel. Check in at hotel, dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Hail – Jubbah - Al-Ula
After an early breakfast we will take a sightseeing tour of Jubbah-Hail. For centuries, Hail was seen as the "key to the desert" because it was the main transit point for pilgrims heading for the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah and for traders traveling north or south in the Arabian Peninsula. The city became an important center of scholarship and learning. We will return to the hotel for lunch and check out, then continue our sightseeing with a visit to Qalat Aarif and Al Qashlat Barracks as we make our way to Al-Ula. Check in, dinner and overnight at the hotel in Al-Ula. (B/L/D)
Al Ula
After breakfast, at 8:00AM we will depart for our morning sightseeing. Al Ula is a gateway for visitors going to see the Nabatean ruins at Mada’in Saleh, an ancient city built by the same civilization that built Petra to the north in Jordan. We will see an Islamic castle and the historic Hijaz Railway Station No. 21. The Hijaz Railway was originally constructed to go between Madinah and Damascus and on to Istanbul, the seat of the Ottoman Empire. During World War I Lawrence of Arabia helped to lead the Arab revolt against the Ottomans and disabling the rail line was part of that strategy. After our visit we will return to the hotel for a break to refresh and have lunch. After lunch we will go by 4WD on a desert excursion to see Mammoth Rock and Hara Hill till sunset. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight. (B/L/D)
Al Ula - Madinah
Our day will start with sightseeing in the ruins of the old city of Al Ula and the Al Ula Museum and lunch will be in a local restaurant. We will continue to Madinah with stops along the way to stretch and view interesting sights. On arrival in Madinah we will check into the hotel and have dinner. Overnight in Madinah. (B/L/D)
Madinah – Jeddah
Breakfast and then check out, then we depart for a tour of Madinah. Commonly referred to as the "cradle of Islamic culture and civilization", it is considered to be the second holiest city in Islam after Mecca. The city is commonly visited as part of the Hajj pilgrimage. After our tour we will go back to the hotel for lunch then transfer to the train station for our train to Jeddah. On arrival in Jeddah we will transfer to our hotel to check in. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. (B/L/D)
Jeddah
We will spend today visiting the port city of Jeddah, believed to be the resting place of Eve. We will visit the historic Nasif House, which is an excellent example of Arabian and Islamic architecture and is now a museum. One feature that is interesting is the staircase built specifically to accommodate camels. It was designed that way so that as the house was built, camels could be used to carry the building materials to the upper floors. This method of moving materials and supplies was used again during the restoration. We will walk through the old city and see other examples of older restored homes and buildings before going to the Alawi Souq for jewelry, perfumes, fabrics, incense, coffee, and more. Lunch will be at Shababeek Restaurant then we will return to the hotel for a break and to refresh ourselves. We will have a farewell dinner at Al Nakheel Restaurant on the Corniche, surrounded by Saudi families on an open air restaurant. After dinner we will drive along the Corniche, which is an open air sculpture museum. Then we will visit the Abdul Raouf Khalil Museum “Al Tayebat”. Return to the hotel for overnight. (B/L/D)
